The first room - entrance hall

The first part of CPhM’s exhibition was festively opened in the three rooms of the hospital in 1996 and it is called “The Magic of an Apothecary”. The purpose of this museum exhibition is to show - within the chances available - to show the development of the Czech pharmacy, medical devices and tools and especially the changes of pharmacys office since the 17th till the 20th century. The exhibits with a historical value should also affect the visitors with their magic of unusualness and artistic processing. In the first room, which is the so-called “entrance hall” of the baroque apothecary, there are located the glass cases with vertical racks from the Italian majolica and Prague stoneware with wooden vertical racks from the 17th and 18th century. It is also possible to see there socket pharmaceutical cupboards from the same period, portraits of two provincials of the Order of Merciful Brothers, the original classicist s of the pharmacy in Kuks and a privilege signed by the by the Emperor Maria Theresia’s own hand. The privilege, dated in 1763, appointed Mathias Salaba, the pharmacist from „Black Eagle“ from Malá Strana in Prague, as the Czech royal pharmacist.
